Heading down the bike path about 200 meters you'll find a leather shop just before you reach the little road leading up to Villa Capra (La Rotonda). The shop has all sort of interesting Italian leather goods and specializes in leather handbags, wallets and belts. The shop has a good selection of ready made items to choose from but does a good deal of business in custom made leather goods too. Italian leather is known for its high quality, and while you may find some good bargains at the Thursday market in the square, there's nothing like a tailor made Italian leather bag or wallet to take home as a gift. The leather shop also exports their products and does a good business with Americans and other English speaking tourists. If nothing else, you might simply enjoy a bit of window shopping and sneak a peak at how they design and produce their leather goods. |
