Embellishing the fertile valleys of northern Italy are a multitude of lovely villas and majestic churches designed by the most famous resident of Vicenza - architect Andrea Palladio. The city is known for its wonderful architecture and attracts both students and tourists alike. The Basilica in the main square - Piazza dei signori, and La Rotonda are perhaps the best examples of Palladio's genius. Many of the churches in Vicenza like Monte Berico and Santa Corona can easily be visited on foot and the bed and breakfast organizes guided walking tours to nearby Villas like La Rotonda and Villa Valmarana (Villa of the dwarves). Villas and churches in the surrounding countryside are best visited by bike during spring and summer months and tours begin from the bike path right behind the guesthouse. Guided tours by car are also available upon request. |
