Just past the leather shop along our road is a wonderful old wine bar called Bar Gallo. The moment you walk into the place you know you are walking into a page from the past. The wine bar is spread over 3 floors, with a few tables upstairs, the main counter on the street level and an old wine cellar downstairs. On weekends they have live music down in the wine cellar where you'll be surrounded by ancient brick walls dating back to medieval times when the bar served a port. Bar Gallo also happens to be a great place to snack, with all sorts of Italian goodies like panzerotto, bruschetta, minestrone and grilled chicken wings. Just point at whatever you find interesting at the counter and let them pour you a glass of wine, you can't go wrong. Luckily it's a short walk back to the B&B along the bike path, with all the fine wine and food around you might just put on a little buzz. |
