Bassano is a little town on the Brenta River at the foot of Monte Grappa, famous for it's asparagus (often used in cooking risotto) and grappa of course (sort of like brandy). The city of Bassano is also a cultural center which hosts numerous art exhibitions in addition to its well know jazz concerts each year. Perhaps the most notable landmark in Bassano is Ponte degli Alpini, originally built in the 13th century and later re-designed by Andrea Palladio in 1568.

Bassano is 40 minutes to the north of Vicenza, just 10 minutes past the medieval town of Marostica. It can easily be reached by bus from Vicenza and makes for a good day trip coupled with Marostica.
