War museum

The war museum atop Monte Berico hosts a number of interesting artifacts from both World War 1 and World War 2.  We'll climb the wooden stairs leading up to Villa Guiccioli from the Valley of silence and get some excellent views of Vicenza along the way.  The villa was built in the late 1700s for Marino Ambellicopoli.  The second owner, the Marquis Giuccioli, added a small oratorium in 1855.  The villa was the scene of stout defence during the battle for Vicenza in 1848 and thus when it became council property was chosen as venue for the Museum of Renaissance and Resistance.  In the picture on the right we have a view of the church of Monte Berico just behind a canon from World War I.  The museum is easily reached by car but the climb up through the woods offers some great picture taking opportunities.
